Cleansing Technician

We’re looking for a Cleansing Technician to help keep Fareham’s streets, parks, cemeteries and other public spaces clean and tidy. Your role will cover a working week of Monday to Friday. Your main duties will be to cleanse the streets throughout the Borough.

Your other duties will include:

• Sweep, collect and remove litter, small fly-tips, detritus and animal waste from roads, footpaths and open spaces.
• Carry out driver responsibilities in relation to Council vehicles and plant.
• Inspect sites and report defects to the Operations Manager.
• Complete relevant paperwork.
• Empty and maintain litter bins, dog waste bins and street furniture.

You will also operate a range of vehicles, including compact mechanical road sweeper, flat bed and caged vans, pedestrian controlled sweeping and collecting machinery.

We are looking for somebody with a mature attitude that can work without close supervision. As a public face of Fareham Borough Council, you will be expected to conduct yourself in a helpful, polite and professional manner as you travel in the borough.

You will need:

• A full, clean driving licence.
• Awareness of Health and Safety including manual handling, street cleansing legislation.
• The ability to learn a range of street cleansing methods and to select which is the best for the situation.
