Electoral Administration Assistant

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Electoral Services Team at Fareham Borough Council.

You will carry out administration tasks associated with electoral registration and local and national elections.  Your main duties will include responding to customer enquiries by telephone, email, post and in person; supporting the team with the day-to-day administration of the service including  processing electoral registration  applications and postal and proxy vote applications; and assisting in administrative tasks in preparation for election events.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of electoral law and Electoral Commission guidance, a customer-focused approach with tact and diplomacy, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Strong ICT and communication skills are essential, along with accuracy, a methodical work style, and the ability to perform well under pressure. A commitment to delivering high-quality work, a willingness to attend training, and flexibility with working hours, especially during election and canvassing periods, are also required.
